Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our
faith; - Hebrews 12:2
Several years ago our Pastor has challenged our
congregation to "watch for the first one." This means to look
for that opportunity to tell someone the message of the Gospel.
The challenge stems from a careful look on the life of Christ.
Scripture tells us that Jesus watched for the first one and
gave them water that they would never thirst again (John
4:7-28).
We need to remember that there was someone who
influenced us to be a follower of Christ. It is because they
were faithful and because of their obedience that we came to
to know Christ. The world is full of people looking for the
answer to their problems in life. Christ is that answer. As
Christians we need to be on the lookout and ready to tell
someone. Look for that "First One", that person that we
will encounter in everyday
living. Look for that person, like that the guy at the filling station,
or that gal at the restaurant. God only knows that first person
that you will encounter. Be looking and be ready to give them the Good
news of Jesus. Watch for the First One!
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh
harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look
on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. -John
